One might wonder how a young boy from Pittsburgh who showed a love for food, especially his mother’s cooking, could grow up to become one of the best chefs in the United States? Particularly one who is a celebrity favorite among movie stars and sports stars alike. Stefano Tedeschi (Chef Steff) has done just that. One might think he has gotten where he is today because of his dedication to the culinary arts. Especially considering he has been working in the food industry since he was 13. But Chef Steff believes that if it weren’t for the love and support of his family, he’d never have been able to achieve the kind of success that he enjoys today.

Born into a full-blooded Italian family in the East Liberty/Morningside area, Chef Steff gained an early respect for food by watching his mother cook in the heart of his family’s home. As he grew older he was inspired by watching famous chefs such as Emeril and Mario Batala. Since choosing the career path of a chef, Steff has been the owner of a number of restaurants, in and around Fox Chapel. Now he is pouring his heart and his soul into his newest restaurant; Chef Steff’s Ristorante. Located at the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills, the Ristorante boasts dishes made with only the best ingredients, delivered fresh daily from the best suppliers in the U.S. and Italy all while remaining family-oriented. Chef Steff’s Ristorante also has a beautiful bar, a private party room and a selction of Steff’s high quality gourmet products for purchase.

Chef Steff is a well known chef in the Pittsburgh area, but he is also internationally known. Steff was chosen as the first American chef to become a member of the prestigious L’Orde International des Disciples d’Auguste Escoffier, an international organization based in Nice, France dedicated to recognizing and promoting culinary excellence.
